Dufftown

Dufftown is in the heart of Speyside, located on the banks of the River Fiddich and the Dullan Water at the foot of the Conval Hills. Whisky distilling is the life blood of Dufftown, with the village declaring itself the “Malt Whisky Capital of the World”. The village sits at a the heart of some truly wonderful cycling. The route south into Aberdeenshire to Rhynie is one of the region’s favourite rides, but equally the village is the gateway to the some to some of Moray’s high hills with a route towards Glenlivet and Tomintoul.The fame of Dufftown as a centre for Malt Whisky can overlook that it’s also the location of two of the area’s iconic castles. Balvennie Castle is in the village and Auchindoun a short distance away on the route towards Rhynie.This area makes a fantastic base for two or three days of Speyside cycling, especially if you are attracted to the hills. Dufftown and nearby Anerlour and Craigellachie all have visitor accommodation. If you are arriving in Dufftown by car you will find parking on Albert Terrace, that car park is signposted from Balvenie Street (the main street running north from the Clock Tower).
