Banchory

Banchory is a pretty town known as the Gateway to Royal Deeside. The town was founded in the 6th century by St Ternan, a Pict who converted to Christianity. Banchory is home to Scotlands first rum distillery, Dark Matters, and if you have the time then you should visit Crathes Castle and its stunning grounds just east of the town. Whilst there, take some time to pop in to Milton of Crathes which has some lovely craft shops and a caf / restaurant.The town is a long established favoured destination for cyclists and there are great rides in all directions. If you arriving in Banchory by Car, parking is available at Bellfield Park on the south side of the town centre it can be busy here on a sunny day in summer. The town has lots of shops and cafes as well as hotels and B&Bs. It also has a bike shop in the town centre.
